Couture 2019 collection presented in Madrid

Charming brightness and uncovered secret - new couture collection of Czech designer Zuzana Kubíčková presented on Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid

The inspiration for the 2019 couture collection began with her choice of the venue for the world premiere of the show in the Prague Rudolfinum building during the Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week in September 2018. The majestic Rudolfinum is a grandiose architectural masterpiece that effortlessly inspires nostalgia for the boom of the industrial revolution, a period of optimism and belief in the future, all of which is reflected in a curious, beautiful and thought provoking collection.

The collection strives to elegantly showcase the female form in all its glory. The designer works with ultralight fabrics and a neo-negligee concept and has developed thirty classical cuts whose unique materials combined with their embellishments make them truly extraordinary. The crystal components used throughout the garments reflect the light, while fur and feathers playfully dance around the models’ bodies. The colour palette is subtle with intimate powdery, nude and beige hues complemented by creamy off-white, black, and black-and-white print. Embroidered tulle and cotton lace appear abundantly, followed by silk and nylon organza for nearly invisible, translucent garments. The centrepiece of the collection is a gown made of Preciosa’s unique and much-sought-after Crystal Net.

The cooperation with Preciosa Company allowed me to complete the outfits with hundreds of crystal stones and nacre pearls. In particular the very unique Crystal Net material and also the Preciosa’s Chaton Rose MAXIMA crystals that reflect up to 264 rays of light and are the shiniest stones in their category.

The show on Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid is held within the Mercedes-Benz International Designer Exchange Program with Czech Centres as co-organizer of the event. “The presentation of the Czech fashion scene is one of the important activities that the Czech Centres focus on in their network when presenting the Czech image. We organize fashion shows; we cooperate with foreign fashion weeks and bring foreign specialists to Czech Republic to get acquainted with the local fashion scene,” said Monika Koblerová, the Director of the Cultural Diplomacy Division and Czech Centres Network about the exchange.
